Lecture 14.09. at energy4you at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences - Waste heat utilisation from chillers and electrical steam generation with high-temperature heat pumps

Our project engineer, Tobias Wurz, explains the necessary steps for substituting the use of fossil fuels with waste heat from chillers. From energy measurement and pinch analysis to concept selection of the technology to be used, concepts are shown that can raise waste heat to various usable temperature levels of up to 180 °C. Whether chiller or heat pump is a question of perspective, the machine is the same. Ideally, both the cold and the heat from one machine can be utilised so that electrical energy only needs to be applied once in order to be able to use both heat flows.
