HFO refrigerants are the 4th generation of flourishing refrigerants and degrade very quickly in the atmosphere due to the unsaturated organic compound. Although this leads to a low global warming potential (GWP), it results in persistent degradation products such as trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), which accumulate in our drinking water, among other things.
