Referee AI

Secure, local AI plant monitoring without reliance on the cloud – sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates!

We minimise unplanned downtime and service call-outs in industrial refrigeration systems through data-driven early diagnosis.

We identify at an early stage when your equipment needs servicing.

Referee AI monitors industrial refrigeration systems, detects gradual deviations before they turn into faults, and identifies the probable cause in plain language.

The AI comes to the system; the data does not go to the AI. Most monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions send operational data to the cloud. Referee AI takes the opposite approach: a hardware module in the control cabinet analyses the data right where it is generated, without any need for an internet connection.

The pilot phase is currently underway. The first modules have been installed on real-world systems and are learning their normal behaviour; early warning and diagnostic functions are being tested and expanded step by step. Regular operation at the first customer sites is planned for 2027. To this end, we are seeking pilot partners to work with us in bringing predictive maintenance to market readiness.

On-premises AI or cloud-based AI: what’s the difference?

On-premises AI or cloud-based AI: what’s the difference?

The difference lies in where the AI runs and where the data has to travel for it.

Cloud AI: Operational data is sent over the internet to an external data centre, analysed there, and the result is sent back. This allows for very large models, but it requires an internet connection, and the data leaves the company.

Local AI (Referee AI): The model runs on a device directly on site – in the case of Referee AI, on the hardware module in the control cabinet. The data stays within the company network, the analysis works without the internet and does not depend on any external service.

We don’t need cloud computing

Why we use local AI

  • Protection against remote attacks

No internet = No hacker attacks
AI-powered cyberattacks on critical infrastructure are increasing rapidly – our system is not vulnerable to them.

  • No dependence on OpenAI, Google and the like

Our AI runs independently on your hardware – with no licence fees, price increases or sudden service interruptions from third-party providers

  • 100 per cent data sovereignty

AI is ideal for data processing – but what happens to your data in the cloud?
That’s not an issue for us. Our system operates 100 per cent within your infrastructure. You retain full control over your data."

  • No data will be passed on to third parties

Local AI = No training of competitors using your data
Your operational data never leaves your organisation.

For anyone who operates or maintains refrigeration systems

Referee AI supports both sides: the operators who rely on their plant, and the technicians who keep it running.

FOR FACILITY OPERATORS
You can keep an eye on the condition of your facilities and receive warnings before anything breaks down. This means fewer unplanned downtimes and maintenance costs that can be budgeted for.

FOR SERVICE COMPANIES AND TECHNICIANS
We make your business more predictable. Your technicians know the likely cause before they even pick up their tools. Emergencies become scheduled appointments, and you can manage more systems with the same team.

WHY REFEREE AI

Six reasons why your refrigeration system runs more efficiently with our local AI.

MORE FACILITIES, FEWER TECHNICIANS – REFEREE BRIDGES THE GAP
MORE FACILITIES, FEWER TECHNICIANS – REFEREE BRIDGES THE GAP

Referee AI monitors your systems round the clock. Your technicians are alerted only when necessary, rather than wasting time on routine checks.

DEVELOPED FROM REFRIGERATION TECHNOLOGY
DEVELOPED FROM REFRIGERATION TECHNOLOGY

The team comprises specialists in plant engineering, refrigeration technology and AI, with over 20 years’ experience in the refrigeration industry and 15 years’ experience in predictive maintenance.

QUICKLY UPGRADED
QUICKLY UPGRADED

The hardware module is connected directly to the existing control system without the need to replace any existing equipment. In compatible systems, it can be installed in a matter of hours.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON-SITE
YOUR DATA STAYS ON-SITE

The AI analyses all the data locally within a closed system. Without the cloud and without an internet connection, there is no external access.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FROM A SINGLE SOURCE
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FROM A SINGLE SOURCE

We develop the module, AI models and user interface ourselves. From installation through to after-sales support, you’ll have a single point of contact who is familiar with the entire system.

AS INDEPENDENT AS POSSIBLE
AS INDEPENDENT AS POSSIBLE

Referee AI does not rely on data centres or external cloud providers. The system operates independently on-premises, and you retain control over your data.

What makes us different!

That’s why Referee AI!

  • Certainly

Referee AI requires neither the cloud nor an internet connection. Your production data never leaves the factory. Anything that is not connected to the internet cannot be accessed from there.

  • Independent

Operational data, reports and diagnostics are stored exclusively on your premises, not in a third-party data centre. You retain control: the module is connected to your existing PLC without the need to replace any existing equipment.

  • Developed from the field of refrigeration technology

Referee AI was born out of an industry challenge: more and more systems, fewer and fewer technicians. The team comprises refrigeration engineers, physicists and AI developers, with over 20 years’ experience in the refrigeration industry and 15 years in predictive maintenance. Where we stand. Referee AI is currently in the pilot phase. The first modules are running on real-world systems and learning their normal behaviour; automatic early warnings are being tested, and plain-text diagnostics will be integrated as the next step. Regular operation with our first customers is planned for 2027. To this end, we are seeking pilot partners to work with us in bringing predictive maintenance to market readiness.

REFEREE AI – PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

Plan maintenance rather than reacting to breakdowns. Traditional plant monitoring often only reacts once thresholds have been exceeded or a fault has already occurred. Referee AI goes one step further: the system continuously analyses the interplay of measured values and detects gradual changes in plant behaviour before they result in unplanned downtime. This is all the more important as more and more plants are being managed by fewer and fewer technicians: service call-outs can be planned in a more targeted and efficient manner.

Plain-text diagnostics

Sensor data is turned into specific recommendations for action. Your team knows immediately what to do.

A virtual model of your plant reflects its operational status in real time, for analysis, simulation and predictive maintenance.

HOW REFEREE AI WORKS

From measurement to diagnosis in four steps.

  • 01 · Record

The hardware module connects directly to your existing PLC without the need for additional cabling. It continuously records pressure, temperature and other operational data in real time.

  • 02 · Visualisation

All data is clearly displayed in a central user interface on your company network. Live monitoring and a digital twin show the status of your plant at a glance.

  • 03 · Early detection

Anomaly detection runs directly on the module at the plant. It detects deviations and trends before minor signs develop into costly faults.

  • 04 · Diagnosis

The AI diagnosis states the probable cause in plain language and provides clear recommendations for action. Everything runs entirely locally: no cloud, no internet connection required, full data sovereignty.
