Our storage rooms are designed to meet customer requirements and given space with storage systems, safety, loading and unloading concepts. They consist of special industrial panels with PU foam filling, with optional integrated vacuum panels, which are mechanically stable enough for extreme temperatures and achieve a sufficient insulating effect. For the low-temperature rooms, we use the flexible cold air chillers from Mirai Intex, which can flexibly realise temperatures from -30 °C to -110 °C (optionally up to -160 °C). Appropriate airlock systems are integrated for energy optimisation and ice fog reduction.
The machine control system is implemented with an S7 and our developed safety concepts and can be expanded to meet customer requirements, such as GMP Audit Trail with GAMP5. The equipment in the storage rooms is integrated, from temperature monitoring and LED lighting to shelving or rail systems.
The insulation is realised with tried-and-tested polyurethane insulation elements from Teledoor. These can be optimised with integrated vacuum panels depending on requirements. When cold, the elements contract and the outer shell remains warm. This results in mechanical stress, which is all the greater the higher the temperature difference and the higher the temperature of the chamber. Our chambers are reinforced with hook fasteners so that the chambers remain mechanically stable even after many temperature changes. We also check all our installations with a thermal imaging camera to optimise penetrations, such as for cable penetrations.
A level floor is required for the floor structure. We can also realise this with screed work as an option. The actual floor of the cryogenic storage room consists of a vapour-tight foil, 20 mm Stryodor panels and a self-regulating heating system. This prevents the storage room from freezing due to freezing groundwater and the associated damage to the building. The actual floor is then placed on top of the heating and can be fitted with appropriate heavy-duty profiles and vacuum plates in the floor slab depending on the load profile and temperature requirements. The floor itself is fitted with non-slip, fully welded stainless steel plates for easy cleaning.
The solution includes the complete control system, including control cabinet. The control system is realised via an S7 from Siemens and can optionally be equipped with a redundant, high-availability control system, additional backup control system and audit trail (GAMP 5). The control system can be integrated into the building management system (BMS) using the classic interfaces. In addition, faults can be detected and rectified at an early stage via remote maintenance if required.
The lighting is realised with robust special LEDs. Unlike normal LED lights, these remain bright at low temperatures and can be switched on and off. This enables very efficient and safe operation. They are also battery-buffered so that the room can be left safely even in the event of a power failure.
Reliable, durable, efficient and safe for people and the environment
We carry out a detailed cooling load calculation based on your requirements and then use the appropriate, efficient refrigeration technology with only natural refrigerants. For low temperatures below -40 °C, the cold air refrigeration technology from Mirai Intex with only air (R729) is used in the open version. With its mechanical defrosting, this ensures homogeneous temperature distribution, dry storage air with a dew point reduction of up to 20 °C and constant temperatures without defrosting cycles. For airlock cooling and cold water generation, we use CO₂ (R744) or propane (R290) for cooling, depending on requirements. These natural refrigerants are free from political regulations, such as the F-Gas Regulation.
We work with you to develop the optimum safety and service concept. Our storage rooms are characterised by non-slip floors, impact protection, bright lighting and low fog and ice formation due to the airlocks and mechanical de-icing. In particular, our dead man's switch, which starts a timer after the door is opened and sounds an alarm when it expires, has proved its worth. This concept can also be supplemented with an optional panic button. With the escape route and pressure equalisation valves, the rooms can always be exited safely.
Air as a refrigerant is free of charge, free of regulations and safe. The systems are robust and specially designed for low temperatures.
